Puneeth Rajkumar (17 March 1975 – 29 October 2021), better recognized by his stage as Appu, was an Indian actor, playback singer, television host, and producer who mostly worked in Kannada films. For his work as Ramu in Bettada Hoovu, he earned the National Film Award for Best Child Artist. For Chalisuva Modagalu and Eradu Nakshatragalu, he also received the Karnataka State Award for Best Child Artist. Appu, Puneeth's first starring role, was in 2002. He starred in 29 films as a lead actor, and he also acted in numerous films as a child. Vasantha Geetha (1980), Bhagyavantha (1981), Chalisuva Modagalu (1982), Eradu Nakshatragalu (1983), Bhakta Prahaladha, Yarivanu, and Bettada Hoovu (1985) received critical acclaim for their performances.
